The $2,500 scholarship, sponsored by the Foundation for Rural Service and Sandhill Telephone, is a one-time award that is not based on grade point average. To be eligible, a student must receive local landline telephone service from Sandhill, be a graduating high school senior, be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college and have at least a C grade average. Applying students should also have an interest in returning to live in a rural community after graduation.
The application must be filled out completely with all the required inclusions. The application will be certified by Sandhill after it is returned. Sandhill will then send the application to the Foundation for Rural Service. Applications are available at area high school guidance offices, from Sandhill Telephone or can be downloaded from the Foundation for Rural Service Web site at www.frs.org.
Completed applications must be returned to Sandhill Telephone no later than February 22, 2019. Return applications to Jeanne Oliver, Sandhill Telephone Cooperative, P.O. Box 519, Jefferson, SC 29718. Or take the application by one of our offices in Jefferson, Pageland, Chesterfield and McBee.
