The $2,500 scholarship, sponsored by the Foundation for Rural Service and Sandhill Telephone, is a one-time award that is not based on grade point average. To be eligible, a student must receive telephone or tier II or higher broadband service from Sandhill Telephone Cooperative, be a graduating high school senior, be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college and have at least a C grade average. Applying students should also have an interest in returning to live in a rural community after graduation.
The application must be filled out completely with all the required inclusions online at https://www.frs.org/programs/youth-programs/scholarships. Application information is available at area high school guidance offices, from Sandhill Telephone or can be downloaded from the Foundation for Rural Service Web site listed above.
